One thing that I wanted to try to learn this year was to be able to create a different visual technique for putting ideas down on paper, so I signed up for two jewelry rendering courses taught by Drawing Gems out of Amsterdam.  Over an eleven week time period the course covered how to paint/render cabochons, diamonds, facetted cut stone, opals, pearls, ribbons, knots and pave' settings...  All of our homework was completed with the use of gouache paint and the above picture was my final homework assignment. Five years ago I sold my very first piece, hummingbird earrings

            It is amazing how fast time flies. It was five years ago almost to the day that I had my very first table as a vendor at Ridgefield's annual Bird Fest and sold my  first creation, a pair of hummingbird earrings.
